Can BPA make guys sexual misfits? What scary new study says

Does exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) make guys less sexy to gals?

An ominous new study shows that males exposed to the controversial chemical might look normal but are "demasculinized" in ways that make them less attractive to females.

The study, published online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, was performed not on humans but on mice. Yet scientists say their findings suggest that BPA might demasculinize human males as well, possibly resulting in "decreased reproductive fitness."

Or, as a plainspoken non-scientist might say, BPA could transform seemingly normal guys into girly men who find it hard to attract a mate.

"The BPA-exposed deer mice in our study look normal; there is nothing obviously wrong with them," study author Dr. Cheryl Rosenfeld, associate professor of biomedical sciences at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, said in a written statement.

Do men REALLY think about sex more than women?

Photo Credit: Cherishmag.com | All Rights Reserved

There are a number of urban myths about sexuality that refuse to die. One such myth is that men think about sex every seven seconds, which would would be a whopping 8,000 times for each 16-hour day that a guy is awake. The other myth is that men think about sex way more often than women do. Fortunately, a researcher whose work you can trust--Terri Fisher from Ohio State University--recently published a study in the Journal of Sex Research that runs a stake through the heart of this sexual stereotyping.

The 18- to 25-year-old males in the Fisher study tended to think about sex once an hour, or less than nineteen times a day, although the frequency varied considerably. According to the authors, "young men appear to spend only a brief fraction of their day involved with sexually related cognitions." The women in Fisher's study tended to think about sex once every two hours, with a large variation in frequency as well. And regardless of gender, 18- to 25-year-olds think about food and sleep as often as they think about sex.

Fenugreek could be spice of sex life

Photo Credit: Cherishmag.com | All Rights Reserved

THE secret to boosting your libido could be as simple as adding a bit of spice to your sex life - literally.

A study by Brisbane-based company Applied Science and Nutrition in conjunction with the Centre for Integrative Clinical and Molecular Medicine, within the University of Queensland's medical school, found men taking the herb fenugreek can boost their sex drive by at least a quarter.

The trial involved 60 healthy men aged 25-52 taking a 600ml extract of the bean-like plant, which is often used in Indian curries, twice a day for six weeks.

Their libido levels were monitored to assess any changes after three and six weeks.

After six weeks, their scores had soared by an average of 16.1 to 20.6 - a 28 per cent rise.

Peers Pressure

Holly Peers is out of breath from laughing. The sight of her draped over a doorstep, wearing underwear, has just caused the biggest traffic jam Watford has ever seen. “Did you see that? The whole street has come out,” she exclaims. Well, you can hardly blame them. Friendly, funny and impossibly hot, Holly could reduce men everywhere into a dumbfounded, gigidybased drool. So a car pile-up in Hertfordshire is nothing.

But the real reason for Holly’s wide grin is not because of her man-halting power. It’s because one of the world’s ultimate women is sharing our cover with the world’s ultimate man’s man: Peter Griffin. “I’m so excited and thrilled. Peter Griffin is a cult icon. If I never model again, I don’t care. I’ve achieved the ultimate.”

Better add, ‘fan of Family Guy’ to the endless list of reasons why Holly Peers is great, then. “Are you kidding? Everyone loves Family Guy. The stupidity and randomness of it is definitely my sense of humour.” She chuckles, before reeling off her favourite episodes. “The best one is when Peter builds a bar in his basement just for the guys, but then Lois starts singing in it and steals the show. That’s what I would do. I want to get involved in the boys’ nights.”

How to last longer in bed

In comparison with men, I believe women have it relatively easy in the bedroom. Therefore I hesitate to lecture men on keeping an erection for hours on end, without at least the help of some blue pills. Women come (and go) as they please. The fate of the encounter doesn't rely on their ability to delay orgasm. Rather - in my opinion, they'd be crazy to attempt this. Too many times, I've been on the edge of an earth shattering orgasm and in an attempt be clever and prolong the build up, it never came back. After these not-so-clever tactics, I've spent the best part of an hour trying everything humanly possible to reach a climax; only to be left high and, well, dry. Men, I don't envy you. In order to please women, you need perfect co-ordination, a tongue like a butterfly, a reasonably sized cock, the stamina of a long distance runner and the ability to control when the game is over; judging all of the aforementioned on her individual preferences, which could change at any given moment. And yet diligently, you still ask - how can we last longer?

Prepare for a radical thought: imagine the outrage at the mere mention of women coming too early. How dare men make even a passing suggestion on the correct timing of us reaching climax?!

How Likely Is Your Partner to Cheat?

A fear of sexual failure combined with a lack of concern about sexual consequences makes both men and women more likely to cheat on their partners, a new study finds.

While it may seem counterintuitive that someone with performance anxiety would seek out something extra on the side, insecure cheaters might look for risky situations to boost their sexual arousal, researchers reported online June 11 in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior. Or they may be trying to avoid the baggage of their sexual anxiety.

"People who score high on this [trait] may feel less pressure when they're engaging with a person who doesn't know their sexual history," study researcher Kristen Mark, a doctoral candidate at Indiana University, told LiveScience.

Survey: 'Most exciting place' for sex is in a car

Forget the mile-high club -- in the U.S. Sex Census national survey released today by condom maker Trojan found that 48% of Americans say "the most exciting place (they) have had sex " is in a car.

Vehicular sex easily beat the second most titillating location, which was (go figure) someone else's bed (33%). The survey did not specify whether sex in the car was better in your own or someone else's ride.

Sex on a plane, meanwhile, showed up as fantasy rather than fact : When asked where they'd like to have sex but haven't yet tried, 33% of men picked the mile-high club, while the top choice for women did not involve transportation: It was the beach or sea (26%).

There's no more about cars, but if you're curious about some other nuggets in the survey done by StategyOne for Trojan, hit the read more below:

What's the secret of hot sex? Science weighs in

Looking for a way to amp up your sex life? You can ditch the oysters and sexy lingerie. A new study suggests that the key to hot sex is plain-old empathy.

"Empathetic individuals are more responsive to a partner's needs, and thus initiate a positive feedback cycle," study co-author Dr. Adena Galinsky, a doctoral student at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School's Center for Adolescent Health, said in a written statement.

Positive feedback cycle? Is that what they're calling it these days?

Researchers from the university studied the psychological profiles of over 3,200 heterosexual men and women 18 to 26 years of age, all of whom had been in a relationship of three months or longer.

They looked for links between self-esteem, autonomy and empathy and three sexual measures - orgasm regularity, and enjoyment of receiving and of giving oral sex.

The findings, published in the June issue of Journal of Adolescent Health, showed that both empathetic men and women had better sex lives.
